Using the Telephone Results Hot Line

External Cup Competitions - Fixture not on Website - Phoning in Results

All HSCL teams competing in the Herts County Cups and the Anagram competition and playing opponents not in the County league must phone the result into the league's telephone results hot-line. If your match appears in the Fixtures List on the website then use the Audrey system in the usual manner. If your fixture is not shown on the website Fixture's List then you use the Voicemail to record the score but do NOT record your goalscorers.

If you are the away side playing a non-league club then, as it says above, you have to phone in the result but be aware; you cannot use your telephone keypad as Audrey will not find a fixture for you. Use the voicemail instead.

Once you have entered your 6 digit Club ID Number and heard Audrey read back your club name press 2 on your keypad to go straight through to the voicemail option. There you can record your result and the goal scorers' names (when required).

Club ID Numbers

All our clubs have been allocated a Club ID Number and this is shown in the top left hand corner of their club details set-up screen.

This number identifies the calling club to the Results Hot Line which, in turn, allows the Hot Line system to identify the fixtures outstanding for the calling club.

Calling the Hot Line

Dial the hotline number - 0207 428 6068 - and you will be greeted by an automated telephone answering service (commonly called "Audrey") which will ask you to enter your club ID number using the push button keypad on your telephone. (Mobiles and landline phones can be used equally well). You will then hear her say your club name - to confirm that you have entered the correct club ID number - after which you will be asked to use the keypad to enter the team number for your (first) result followed by pressing the hash key.

This is NOT a premium rate number and neither the league nor leaguemanager.biz make any money from the calls you make. All calls are charged at normal rates and calls from a landline are local calls from the greater London area. Calls from mobiles are charged at your normal rate as determined by your provider.

Team Numbers

Teams are numbered from 1# onwards where 1# is the first team, 2# is the reserve side, 3# the 'A' or 3rd XI and so on.

Please be aware of this. When Audrey asks for the team number, do NOT re-enter the 6 digit Club ID number (you've already done that or she wouldn't be asking for the team number), enter instead the team number (1#, 2#, etc).

Using the Hash Key ("#")

When the length or number of digits in a response is fixed - as with the club ID number - there is no need to press the hash key. When the number of digits is unpredictable - as with a score, for example - you will be asked to press the hash key to indicate that you have entered all the digits you intend to for the response.

Results

You cannot enter a result for a fixture your club does not have and provided you enter the correct club ID number, you cannot enter a result for another team. Remember to listen to the reading-back of your club's name once you have entered your club's ID number.

You can use the Results Hot Line for external competitions such as county cups, the Anagram Trophy and so on provided your tie is shown in the list of fixtures on this website. We will pass them on as a group of results to the appropriate organiser (Martin Bayliss, John Cronk etc).

Otherwise, results in external competitions not listed on this website under Cups must be phoned in as directed by the competition organisers AND to the voicemail system (see above).

(You can't get it wrong. If you try and enter a result for a fixture the system doesn't know about, Audrey will tell you that she doesn't have a fixture for that team.)

Confirming the Score

Once a score has been entered for both teams, you will hear the result read back to you, "Your first eleven won two nil", for example. At this stage you can accept the entry or indicate that you want to change it. When you have finished entering scores you can go on to record the names of the goal scorers (not normally required -see below).

If you subsequently discover that the score you were given to record is wrong, you can re-dial the Hot Line and re-enter it.

Recording Goal Scorers

You do not enter goalscorers for fixtures shown on the Fixtures List, you put these on your team sheet. Ocasionally, when in external cups or other competitions you will use the Voicemail system to record the result of the match (because they do not appear on the Fixtures List and, therefore, are not known to Audrey).

To use the Voicemail system to record goaslscorers is straightforward. When you have finished entering a score you will be asked whether you want to enter another score, record a voicemail message, hear the results entered read back to you or hang up.

To record your goal scorers press the key as directed for Voicemail and then record your names. Remember you need to know your opposition's goal scorers as well. Please spell out difficult names especially any for those players that have been emergency registered for the game played that day. You can restart your message at any time and you can play back what you have recorded.

When you have finished just hang up.

Recording Other Messages

You can use the Telephone Results Hot Line to record other messages particularly those relating to no-shows, abandonments and postponements.

All league officers have access to the Voicemail system and the results secretary receives all voicemails by email immediately they are recorded.

Remember that, in the event of a cancellation or postponement, you must telephone your opponents and the match officials themselves without delay and the referees secretary still has to be telephoned directly in the event of a late (ie match day) postponement so that he can try to re-allocate the officials.

Click on the silhouette to hear an example of Audrey doing her stuff.

The time requirements for recording results - no later then 30 minutes after the final whistle - and team sheets (with substitutes, goalscorers etc) - no later than 12.00am on the Monday or day following the game for evening matches - remain as in previous seasons and as published in your handbook.

I hope you find the Results Hot Line easy to use. Please let me have any comments - good or bad - by email or via the Your Shout noticeboard.
