THE FA INTER LEAGUE CUP

Boony's Boys Bring Back the Bacon - Just

The league rep team overcame a spirited Middlesex County league side at Belstone FC but only just, notching a sudden death win on penalties.

The match facts are: 1 down after just a few minutes, 2 1 up at half time. A lead we held until the very last seconds of normal time when the men from Middlesex equalised. The oppo then took the lead again in the first half of extra time and we turned round looking down the barrel. A last gasp goal made it 3 each and we were into a penalty shoot-out. A fine save gave us the edge but our last kick of the first five was saved and we were into sudden death. Another conversion and another save saw the County league home.

So: 2 - 2 at normal time, 3 -3 after extra time and an eventual win 5 - 4 on pens.

THE FA INTER LEAGUE CUP

The New Campaign Gets Underway

The FA National League System Cup has been renamed and the competition will now be known as The FA Inter-League Cup. The decision to rename the competition was taken by The FA Leagues Committee based on the fact that the competition has, for the past three editions, included competitions from outside the National League System. In addition, the winners of the past three competitions, Isle of Man League (2006), Southern Amateur League (2008) and the Guernsey Senior County League (2010) were all from outside the recognised League structure.

A total of 48 leagues have entered, an increase of six on the previous competition which was won by the Guernsey County Senior League. The competition has the added bonus of the winner qualifying for the UEFA Regions Cup.

The draw for the Preliminary and First Rounds of The 2011-12 FA Inter League Cup has been made with all ties to be completed by Saturday 16 April 2011.
