AUBREY CUP FINAL LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY EAGLES 2-0 MET POLICE BUSHEY Letchworth Garden City Eagles clinched the Aubrey Cup in only their second season back in senior football seeing off Metropolitan Police Bushey in another victory against the odds. Roy Boon's side had already seen off three other Premier Division sides en route to the final including leaders Wormley Rovers to complete the first part of a potential league and cup double. Jason Drackford gave Eagles the lead in the opening twenty minutes with a cool well taken finish, before a second came via a deflection from Joe Delasalle. The Met did everything to try and get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way through as they came up against a resolute defence and 'keeper Dan Eely turned in a fine performance in goal. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "LATE MARSH GOAL EDGES WORMLEY CLOSER TO THE TITLE!" Wormley Rovers moved four points clear at the top of the Premier Division on Tuesday evening and ended Baldock Town Letchworth's promotion hopes in the process as a late header from Nick Marsh gave them a vital victory in a tightly contested encounter at Church Lane. The victory means that a win in the title showdown with London Lions on Saturday will give them the title. Anything other than that puts Lions in pole position with two games in hand. Lions themselves dropped points at Sandridge Rovers after Daniel Stanton's goal was cancelled out by Danny Johnson. Graham Small scored five times for Chipperfield Corinthians in an incredible match at Codicote. The home side netted four of their own with Lee McDonald scoring twice and solitary goals from Ben Bouchnak and Marcus Cumberbatch, but the visitors won 7-4 following further goals from Charlie Hurlock and Alan Lowe to make it 13 goals in two outings for Chipperfield. The other game on Tuesday evening saw Standon & Puckeridge return to winning ways with a 4-2 win over Evergreen. Anthony Miles scored a hat-trick with James Endacott also on target. Gavin Watson netted a consolation for the hosts. On Thursday evening, Metropolitan Police Bushey kept up their hopes of finishing third with a 2-0 win over local rivals Evergreen, whose defeat confirms they will finish in bottom three. Darren Glenister and Steven Shorto scored the goals to move the Met within three points of Baldock with a game in hand. Sandridge Rovers substitute Peter Stevens scored twice as they rounded off their season with a 6-2 defeat at Cuffley. Rovers finish the campaign in a disappointing 12th place, going 12 matches without a win. Their last victory came against Cuffley back in mid-February. Elsewhere, Dale Fisher and Kevin Abbe netted as Croxley Guild won 2-1 at Codicote. Lee McDonald was on target for the second time in three days for Codicote, but his 15th goal of the season proved no more than a consolation. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "EAGLES COMPLETE A LEAGUE & CUP DOUBLE!" Letchworth Garden City Eagles completed a memorable league and cup double on Thursday evening with a 3-1 over title rivals Harpenden Rovers. Having already won the Aubrey Cup on Bank Holiday Monday, Eagles knew victory would be enough to seal the title and cap a superb second season in senior football. Goals from the inspirational Luke Garwood, Paul McGennity and Joe Tyler gave the visitors victory, which also ensured that Rovers would finish the season in third place. It remains to be seen whether both Eagles and Rovers can take their places in the Premier Division next season, but congratulations go to both teams on a fine season. The other midweek result from Division One saw Old Parmiterians and Bushey Rangers play out a 1-1 draw. Old Parmiterians finish the season in 10th place, whilst Bushey can still finish fourth with victory over Buntingford Town in their last game on Saturday. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "ROVERS STAY TOP WITH EMPHATIC WIN!" Wormley Rovers maintained their position at the top of the Premier Division with an emphatic 5-1 win at Park Street Village. Top scorer Michael Dodd took his season's tally to 25 with a brace. Gary Bull, Jack Bartlett and Daniel Isaacs were also on the scoresheet. Matt Newman's 17th goal of the season proved no more than a consolation for the home side. Second place London Lions remain on course to win the title following their 2-0 win over Lemsford. Paul Hakim and Daniel Stanton scored the all important goals for Lions, who still have two games in hand on leaders Wormley and they still have to play each other. As for Lemsford, they still sit just above the relegation zone. Baldock Town Letchworth, without the suspended Jack Gregson and a number of regulars, went down 2-1 at Cuffley to all but end their promotion hopes. The home side took a two goal lead into the interval thanks to goals from Matthew Collier and Tom Glover. Josh Furness got Baldock back into the game in the first minute of the second half, but they couldn't find a way past a stubborn Cuffley defence to claim a point. Charlie Hurlock scored a hat-trick for Chipperfield Corinthians as they ended Standon & Puckeridge's fine recent run of wins with a 6-2 victory at Queen Street. Hurlock now has 26 for the season. He was joined on the scoresheet by Alan Lowe, Adam Godfrey and Joe Slade. James Endacott and Gregg Douglas netted for the visitors. The other game in the Premier Division saw Bovingdon and Codicote draw 1-1 in the battle for fifth place. Lee Butler netted for Bovingdon, with Stefan Saywell earning Codicote a point. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "SARRATT END THEIR CAMPAIGN WITH ANOTHER VICTORY!" Sarratt completed their league campaign with a 3-2 win over Knebworth, which moved them up to fourth in the table. Andrew Byrne, Daniel Doran and Gareth Styles scored the goals which gave them a 12th win in their last fourteen games of the season. Tom Martin and Sam Stephenson scored for the Ks who finish 11th in the table. The other game saw Bushey Rangers and Whitwell share the points following a 2-2 draw. Rangers scored through Trafford Nolan and Daniel May, with Richard Reed and Ben Scott netting for Whitwell, who stretched their winless run to eight matches. RESERVE CUP FINAL STANDON & PUCKERIDGE RESERVES 2-3 LONDON LIONS RESERVES London Lions Reserves and Reserve Division Two champions Standon & Puckeridge Reserves contested the Reserve Cup Final at Oxhey Jets and despite both sides turning in good performances, it was Lions who edged it. Both teams created chances early on, but it was Standon & Puckeridge who took the lead on the half hour when a quick counter attack allowed George Wappett to open the scoring. It could have been worse for Lions as half time approached, but keeper Danny Berliner was in fine form. On the stroke of half time, Paul Linger collected a Tim Becker pass on the edge of the box and hit an unstoppable shot into the corner of the net to ensure Lions went into the break on level terms. This galvanised the Division One side and they found themselves in front early in the second half when good work from Jason Goldstein allowed Nick Goodman to rifle home. Standon & Puckeridge top scorer Stephen Evans was then introduced into the action and he scored a stunning goal with his first meaningful contribution to level at 2-2. However, with ten minutes remaining substitute Jeremy Julius and Linger combined to set up Goldstein who netted what proved to be the winner. Both sides then had a man sent off in the closing moments in an unsavoury incident, but Lions held on to win the Reserve Cup for the first time in their history. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "WORMLEY & LIONS CHALK UP WINS IN TITLE RACE!" Wormley Rovers maintained their advantage at the top of the Premier Division with a 2-1 win at Chipperfield Corinthians. Jack Bartlett's 14th goal of the season and one from Billy Cunningham gave Rovers another victory with Darren Gardiner replying for the home side. London Lions remain in touch, but they didn't have it all their own way despite eventually running out 4-1 winners against Croxley Guild. Adam Stolerman gave Lions a 1-0 lead at the break, but Croxley rallied and equalised through Steven Furnell. This forced the desired reaction from Tony Gold's side with goals from Stolerman, Lee Cash and Andy Glynne sealing the win. Baldock Town Letchworth were due to host already relegated Mill End Sports, but the visitors were unable to raise a side. Jamie Derby scored a hat-trick as Metropolitan Police Bushey won 5-2 against Cuffley - ending a run of three matches without a win. Lee Richards and Jermaine Abrams scored the other goals to condemn Cuffley to a fifth defeat in seven outings. Bovingdon have now won just two of their last nine games, but remain in fifth place following a 1-1 draw with Sandridge Rovers. Stephen Smith scored for Bovingdon, but Chris Wickens earned Rovers a point with his 15th goal of the season. Standon & Puckeridge completed a perfect April with a sixth successive win, this time seeing off sixth placed Park Street Village. James Endacott scored his fourth goal in three games, with other goals coming from Stephen Hamel and Anthony Miles. Elsewhere, Codicote dealt Evergreen's survival hopes a blow with a 4-1 victory. Top scorer Marcus Cumberbatch was on target, as were Ryan Soloman, Stefan Saywell and Daryl Smith. Garvin Watson scored the Evergreen consolation. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP - MIDWEEK "TITLE RACE TAKES ANOTHER TWIST!" On Tuesday evening, the title race took another twist when Wormley Rovers went down 1-0 at home to fourth place Metropolitan Police Bushey. Paul Killick scored the only goal of the game for Dusty Miller's men. London Lions took full advantage and closed the gap to two points with still two games in hand with a 5-0 thrashing of Bovingdon. Adam Stolerman took his season's tally to 33 with a brace. James Gershfield also scored twice with David Souter completing a comprehensive win, which stretches Lions unbeaten league run to 17 matches. In Tuesday's other game, Codicote were 3-0 victors at lowly Lemsford. Stefan Saywell and Ben Smith were amongst the goals for the visitors. On Thursday evening, Sandridge Rovers and Chipperfield Corinthians played out a 0-0 draw at the Spencer Recreation Ground, a result which keeps both sides in mid-table. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "ROVERS CONFIRM TOP THREE FINISH WITH ANOTHER SINGLE GOAL VICTORY!" It remains to be seen whether Division One's promotion chasing clubs will meet the ground criteria to go up, but Saturday's action all but rounded-up who will finish in the top three. Harpenden Rovers went top of Division One with a fifth 1-0 victory in their last ten matches thanks to a solitary goal from Adam Smith. Their remaining fixture of the season is on 6th May against fellow title challengers Letchworth Garden City Eagles. Eagles, remain favourites to win the title following a 6-0 win at St Peters, who rounded off their campaign with defeat. Roy Boon's side are in red-hot goalscoring form after netting 21 goals in their last three outings. Joe Delasalle has scored eight of those. He scored a brace, with other goals coming from Rob Groves, Sam Gittings, Jamie Platt and Tom Gallagher. Hinton's place in the top three will be guaranteed if they can see off AFC Hatfield Town on Wednesday evening. The only team that can deny both Eagles and Hinton are Bushey Rangers, who kept alive their very slim hopes with a 4-3 win at Kimpton Rovers. Paul Barnes rounded off his season for Rovers with a hat-trick, but it wasn't enough as goals from Kevin Kenwright, Scott Sheppard, Vincent Somers and Trafford Nolan won it for the visitors. Belstone's hopes of finishing in the promotion places in their debut season were dashed by a four-goal salvo from Wesley Pullen. Max Camp was also on the scoresheet with his 23rd goal of the season to give Buntingford Town a 5-2 win. Graham Windsor netted a consolation brace for Belstone. Walkern Rangers and Bedmond Sports & Social rounded off their respective seasons at the Jubilee Pavilion, with the visitors coming out on top. Dale Dresh and Jamie Higgs scored the goals in a 2-0 win that all but seals a respectable 7th place finish for Bedmond after relegation last term. Walkern finish at the foot of the table. Only Whitwell can deny Bedmond seventh place, but that is now looking a tall order after a 3-2 defeat at Old Parmiterians meant it's now no win in seven games for Simon Chipperfield's side, who up until mid-March had looked like they would challenge for the title. Aiden Bryder and Adrian Spence scored for Whitwell, but the home side claimed victory with goals from Perrie McClenen (2) and Gary Hayne. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP - MIDWEEK "EAGLES CLOSE IN ON DIVISION ONE TITLE!" On Tuesday evening, Letchworth Garden City Eagles moved another step closer to the Division One title. Despite scoring goals for fun in recent outings, it took only a solitary Rob Groves strike to see off Buntingford Town, which moved them to within three points of leaders Harpenden Rovers with three games in hand, one of which is against them. Hinton went back to the top of the table on Wednesday evening as they completed their league campaign with a 3-2 win over AFC Hatfield Town, which assured a top three finish and potential promotion. Julien Lauren scored twice, with Bryan Hughes also on target. Jordan Thurgood and Terry Caswell scored for Town, who will finish second bottom for the second season running. Daniel Doran and Chris Honour scored for Sarratt as they won 2-1 against Old Parmiterians. The win makes it eleven wins in their last thirteen. A victory over Knebworth this coming weekend, could still see them finish fourth. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "LIONS SEE OFF WORMLEY IN THE TITLE ENCOUNTER!" The Premier Division title race is promising to go down to the wire with Baldock Town Letchworth, Wormley Rovers and London Lions neck and neck in an enthralling finish to the season. The big match of the day came at Church Lane with title rivals Wormley Rovers and London Lions locking horns. It was to be the visitors who came out on top thanks to a fine first half display. Adam Stolerman and James Gershfield were the scorers in a hard fought 2-0 victory, which must make Lions now slight favourites with their games in hand. Baldock Town Letchworth kept themselves firmly in the race with a 3-1 win over Evergreen, who have recently shown signs of a late revival. Rhys Davies and Jack Gregson put Town two up before Dean Renphrey halved the deficit. However, a controversial second half goal from Craig Skelton sealed the points for the visitors. Fourth place Metropolitan Police Bushey were held to a 3-3 draw by draw specialists Codicote. David Iwediuno, Leigh Nymm and Lee McDonald scored for Codicote, with Daryl Kingshott, Lee Richards and Ross Shorto replying for the Met. After spending most of the season flirting with the relegation zone, Standon & Puckeridge now have hopes of a top six finish as a 2-1 victory at Bovingdon gave them their fifth consecutive victory. James Endacott and substitute Bradley Ratcliff scored the all important goals with Bovingdon netting through Tom Shaw. At the other end of the table, Lemsford and Cuffley did their survival hopes no harm at all with victories against Sandridge Rovers and Croxley Guild respectively. Bradley Anderson and Anthony Wells scored for Lemsford in their 2-1 win over Sandridge. Ross O'Flynn scored for Rovers, who have now not won in eight outings. Cuffley ended a run of seven matches without a win as they edged a five goal thriller at Croxley Guild. Ben Andrews scored twice with the other goal coming from Matt Kearney. Croxley replied through Dale Fisher and Conor Flanagan. Elsewhere, Mill End Sports will play Division One football next season after their draw with Chipperfield Corinthians and results elsewhere confirmed their relegation. Sunnie Cresswell and Andrew Pryor were on the scoresheet for Mill End with Chipperfields strikes coming from Charlie Hurlock, his 21st of the season, and Paul Lowe. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP - MIDWEEK "BALDOCK BACK ON TOP FOLLOWING FIVE-GOAL THRILLER!" Baldock Town Letchworth went back to the top of the Premier Division on Tuesday evening with a pulsating 3-2 win over reigning champions Metropolitan Police Bushey. Jamie Derby had twice put the visitors in front, but Baldock came from behind thanks to goals from unlikely sources. Club captain Neil Morgan bundled one home, before a second half brace from brother Steve gave Town a huge win. London Lions came from behind at the break to earn a 3-3 draw with Cuffley, but they still remain in pole position to win the title. Jack Hughes, Tom Glover and Matt Kearney gave the visitors a shock 3-1 lead at the interval, but Lions, playing their fifth game in ten days, battled back valiantly and Adam Stolerman's brace and one from Dean Nyman gave them a point, which could yet prove the difference. On Thursday evening, Wormley Rovers got back to winning ways with a 6-1 win at relegated Hertford Heath. Robbie Syrett lead the way with a brace, with other goals coming from Jack Bartlett, Lee Bone, Nico Nigrelli and Billy Cunningham. Elsewhere on Wednesday evening, Chipperfield Corinthians beat Mill End Sports 2-0 thanks to goals from Charlie Hurlock and Chris Corney, whilst Park Street Village beat Evergreen by the same scoreline. Codicote have now won eight, drawn eight and lost eight from their 24 league outings following their 4-1 win over Sandridge Rovers. Ross O'Flynn scored for the second game running for Rovers, but it was no more than a consolation with Codicote goals coming from Lee McDonald, David Iwediuno and Matt Jones. AUBREY CUP SEMI-FINALS "WORMLEY AND LIONS DOUBLE HOPES DIE IN AUBREY SEMI FINAL!" As Wembley prepared for the FA Cup Semi Finals, it was also Semi Final day in the County League's Aubrey Cup. Fellow title chasers London Lions and Wormley Rovers went into their respective ties against Metropolitan Police Bushey and Letchworth Garden City Eagles harbouring hopes of completing a league and cup double, but both fell at the last four stage. Lions dominated for long periods against the Premier Division's reigning champions, but with the game seemingly destined for extra-time the Met's Lee Richards popped up with a 90th minute winner to spark wild celebrations and set up a first Aubrey Cup Final appearance since 1996. They will take on Division One's Letchworth Garden City Eagles, who completed a hat-trick of Premier Division scalps in this season's competition with a fine 3-0 win over Wormley Rovers. Jay Drackford, Rob Groves and Lewis Mitchell scored the goals to book their place in the May Day Bank Holiday showpiece in only their second season in the County League. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "BALDOCK FRUSTRATED BY BATTLING BOVINGDON!" League leaders Baldock Town Letchworth's title hopes were dealt a blow when they were held to a 0-0 draw by a battling Bovingdon. Home keeper Alan Wright was in fine form as Steve King's side were unable to find a way through. Town are three and seven points clear of Wormley Rovers and London Lions, but they have three and five games in hand respectively. Park Street Village remain fifth despite having to settle for a point following a 3-3 draw with Codicote. James Hill scored twice and substitute Toby Ashcroft got the other, but Codicote claimed their seventh league draw of the season thanks to goals from Lee McDonald, Dean Jones and Stefan Saywell. Chipperfield Corinthians ended a run of four consecutive defeats with a 4-1 win at Lemsford. Adam Godfrey and Joe Slade scored one apiece, with top scorer Charlie Hurlock's brace taking his season's tally to 20. Danny Pickett replied for Lemsford, who continue to hover anxiously above the relegation zone. Standon & Puckeridge continued their impressive run of form with a 3-1 home win over Sandridge Rovers. Anthony Miles scored twice and Jonathan Jarrett got the other to move the hosts comfortably into mid-table. In contrast, Sandridge have won just one of their last eight. Chris Wickens' goal proved no more than a consolation for the visitors. Croxley Guild all but ended any fears of relegation with a fine 5-2 win at Cuffley. Dale Fisher lead the way with a hat-trick for the visitors. Conor Flanagan and substitute Ben Adams were also on the scoresheet. Cuffley have won just one of their last ten league matches and like Lemsford will be looking over their shoulders. Matt Kearney and Matthew Parsons scored the hosts goals. Evergreen won the battle of the bottom two clubs with a 5-3 win against Mill End Sports, who replace them at the foot of the table. The hosts had lead 4-1, but Mill End came back to 4-3 before a fifth goal from Evergreen clinched another vital win. Dean Renphrey netted a hat-trick with the home sides other goals coming from Garvin Watson and Rhys Fitzpatrick. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "GOALS GALORE IN DIVISION ONE!" There were seven matches in Division One at the weekend and they yielded 36 goals, with no fewer than four clubs going goal crazy. Leaders Hinton remain well placed for promotion with a 6-1 win over Bedmond, whose own hopes are now all but over. Substitute David Russell scored twice with fellow sub Kenny Foster also on target. Their other goals came courtesy of Anton Gavrilov, Bryan Hughes and Matthew Langley. Dean Hammill netted for Bedmond. Harpenden Rovers remain a single point behind the leaders with five goals of their own at Allenburys Sports. Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to seven games thanks to goals from Marc Andrews, Adam Smith, Ryan Denys, Sam Parrat and Matthew Chugg. Allenburys replied through Nick Shipley. Belstone enhanced their promotion credentials, whilst dealing one of their rivals a huge blow after dismantling Whitwell 7-1. Steve Quinn has 16 for the season following a hat-trick. Other goals came from William Corbett, Joe Cherrington, Tim Tabi and Danny Gillespie. The biggest winners of the day were St Peters who thumped nine past bottom club Walkern Rangers without reply. Richard Ellis now has 20 goals this season following a five-goal haul. He was joined on the scoresheet by Mark Savory and Daniel Blyth whilst David Sandiford netted twice to complete the rout. Bushey Rangers made it five consecutive league victories with a 3-0 win at Knebworth. Trafford Nolan, Alessandro Campana and Paul Tobin all netted to keep Rangers in with a shout of a return to the Premier Division after a two-year absence. Sarratt have now won nine of their last eleven matches as a solitary strike from Tom Shurville proved enough to see off lowly Buntingford Town, whilst Russell Ainsworth and Adam Miller scored for Old Parmiterians as they stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a 2-0 win at Kimpton Rovers. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "THREE CLUBS PICK UP MAXIMUM POINTS OVER EASTER!" The Easter Weekend saw both the Senior Premier Division and Division One clubs play twice in three days and despite the midweek rain which saw a couple of Easter Saturday matches postponed, there were three clubs who reaped the rewards with the maximum six points on offer. Title-chasing London Lions kept the pressure on the top two with a 4-1 win at Hertford Heath and 1-0 win at Cuffley respectively. At The Playing Field, Lions seized a half time advantage through Adam Stolerman before a well-taken goal from Danny Cole doubled the visitors' advantage. Just after the hour, Heath reduced the arrears but a goal from debutant Steve Summers and a second of the afternoon for top scorer Stolerman gave Lions another vital away win and deepened the hosts relegation worries. On Easter Monday Lions were on their travels again, with a trip to struggling Cuffley. King George's Playing Fields is a tough place to get a result at the best of times, but Tony Gold's men were forced to play 65 minutes with 10 men following the sending off of Andy Myers for a professional foul. However, Lions dug in and claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a memorable solo goal from Lee Cash. In the coming week, London Lions face four tough matches in seven days and their performance in those could go along way to shaping their destiny. Another side to claim back-to-back victories were reigning champions Metropolitan Police Bushey. On Easter Saturday they entertained mid-table Codicote and despite a goal from David Iwediuno for the visitors, the Met ran out 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Ross Shorto (two) and Paul Killick. They followed this win with another three goals at Aldenham Road against relegation-threatened Lemsford, but this time keeping a clean sheet. Jack Brown took his season's tally to 15 with a brace with the other coming from Ben Cain to make it ten wins in their last eleven outings. Both Lions and Met Police would have been delighted to see rivals Wormley Rovers slip up on Saturday though, as they went down 1-0 at home to in-form Park Street Village. The prolific Matt Newman scored the decisive goal to condemn Rovers to a third league defeat of the season. However, Rovers did bounce back on Easter Monday as they won 2-1 at Church Lane against Codicote to make it a miserable Bank Holiday weekend for the visitors. Jack Bartlett and Richard Howard were on target for the title chasers with top scorer Marcus Cumberbatch replying with his 15th of the season for Codicote. Leaders Baldock Town Letchworth were forced to sit out Saturday's action after their home match with Lemsford was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at The County Ground, but they used their extra rest to devastating effect as they dismantled in-form Park Street Village at Toulmin Drive. Rhys Davies, Harry Holland and Nicky Stilwell were all on the first half scoresheet in a fine 3-0 win to keep them two points clear of Wormley. The third club to claim two victories over the weekend were Standon & Puckeridge, who eased any fears of relegation with vital wins over Chipperfield Corinthians and Hertford Heath respectively to move them into mid-table. Mark Smith and Bradley Ratcliff were on target in their 2-0 home win over Chipperfield, who slumped to a sixth defeat in their last seven, whilst Jonathan Jarrett, Anthony Miles and James Endacott struck in a 3-1 win at Hertford Heath, which left the hosts teetering on the brink of relegation following two Easter defeats. Bovingdon bounced back to winning ways after four consecutive losses. Their home encounter with Mill End Sports was washed out on Saturday, but they inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Chipperfield at Queen Street on Easter Monday thanks to a solitary strike from Matt McMahon to continue a two-way battle with Park Street for fifth place. Both Sandridge Rovers and Mill End Sports had to make do with a single point from the weekend's action. On Saturday, Rovers went down 2-1 to struggling Croxley Guild. An Apostolos Gidaropoulos brace gave Croxley a first win in 12 games. Mill End had their game at Bovingdon postponed, before they played out a 1-1 draw with Rovers on Monday. Tom Callaghan scored for Mill End with an own goal earning Rovers a draw. Evergreen boosted their slender survival hopes with a 3-3 draw against Cuffley on Saturday, before picking up a massive 1-0 win over out of sorts Croxley Guild. A Garvin Watson brace and one from Danny Allen gave the bottom club hopes of victory over Cuffley, but Tom Glover, Matt Kearney and Ben Andrews earned the visitors a share of the spoils. However, their first win in eight games came thanks to a solitary goal by Lewis Jones. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "HAPPY EASTER FOR HARPENDEN AS RIVALS FALTER!" The Division One title race looks like it will go down to the final afternoon with no fewer than five or six clubs still having aspirations of lifting the trophy, but it was a mixed bag of results for the title chasers over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend. As Harpenden Rovers reaped the rewards of two victories, Whitwell's challenge appears to be derailing following two hefty defeats, but things are still wide open and it would take a brave gambling man to correctly predict the outcome of this exciting climax to the season. Rovers moved to within a point of leaders Hinton with three games in hand following their fine 1-0 win at Holtwhites Hill in a potential title showdown on Easter Monday. Adam Smith scored the all important goal, which nicely followed up their 3-1 over AFC Hatfield Town on Saturday. They were the only team in the top seven to claim back-to-back victories, but another team who did achieve the same feat and may make a late assault on promotion are Bushey Rangers. Rangers started the season very promisingly and looked likely candidates for promotion until a woeful loss of form saw them slip out of contention. However, with still seven games remaining they are again in the hunt after wins over Walkern Rangers (4-0) and AFC Hatfield Town (3-2) respectively. Hinton remain on top despite going down on Monday to rivals Harpenden. On Saturday, they thrashed fellow title rivals Whitwell 6-1. Although they are well-placed at present, Hinton's remaining three fixtures are against Bedmond, St Peters and AFC Hatfield Town and you feel all need to be victories to have any chance of winning the title. It didn't get any better for Whitwell on Easter Monday when Sam Stephenson netted a hat-trick to give Knebworth a surprise 3-0 win over the highflyers. Whitwell still remain within touching distance of their rivals despite these damaging defeats, but you feel the upper hand is now with both Harpenden Rovers and Letchworth Garden City Eagles, who have games in hand. Eagles had a satisfying weekend despite dropping points to Old Parmiterians. Jay Drackford scored twice and Sean Soards also netted in their 3-1 win at sixth place Bedmond. The defeat was the hosts 9th league loss of the season and with a 10th arriving against Belstone on Monday, their hopes of bouncing straight back after last season's relegation seem all but over. Old Parmiterians have now taken four points from their two meetings with Eagles following a 2-2 draw at Pixmore. Roy Boon's men are third in the table, six points behind Hinton but with five games in hand on them and two on second place Harpenden, Eagles must be current favourites to win the title. Belstone were only in action once over the Bank Holiday weekend, but they enjoyed three points with a 2-0 win over Bedmond. The Medbourn Ground club are fourth in the table, but like rivals Whitwell and Bedmond are now relying on dips in form elsewhere to give them any hope of the title. Away from the title race, the big performers of the weekend were Buntingford Town. They won a seven-goal thriller at Knebworth thanks to braces from top scorer Max Camp and Louis Gilbert. Town followed their 4-3 victory up with another four goals, this time 4-1 at the expense of Walkern Rangers. Max Camp was once again amongst the goals to take his season's tally to 22, still ten behind the Division's leading marksman Daniel Campbell of Bedmond. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "WORMLEY HIT SIX, BUT BALDOCK ARE BACK ON TOP!" After recent setbacks against London Colney and Chipperfield Corinthians in cup and league respectively, leaders Wormley Rovers returned to form in style with a demolition of fifth placed Bovingdon. Mike Dodd gave Rovers a 1-0 half time lead following a 20th minute header, but they ran away with it in the second half thanks to goals from Richard Howard, Tom Sinclair, another one from Dodd, Michael Fantis and Jack Bartlett. Baldock Town Letchworth made sure there was no repeat of the heroics against Wormley from Chipperfield as the visitors chalked up a fine 3-0 win at Queen Street. Harry Holland continued his fine run of goalscoring form with the opener, Steve Morgan made it two just before the interval after converting Lee Rogers' free kick before Craig Skelton wrapped things up with a third late on. London Lions are third, but remain very much in the title race following their 5-1 win at relegation-threatened Evergreen. Dean Nyman scored a spectacular goal to give Lions the lead, but Evergreen levelled straight away through Dean Renphrey. Any hopes of an upset were dashed when goals either side of the break from Ben Lauffer and Lee Cash put Lions in charge. Further goals from Lauffer and top scorer Adam Stolerman sealed the points. Metropolitan Police Bushey are a comfortable fourth following a 3-0 victory over Croxley Guild at Aldenham Road. Gavin Chatterpaul netted twice for the hosts with Jack Brown's 13th goal of the season completing the scoring. Park Street Village moved above Bovingdon into fifth place after they made it three consecutive victories with a 4-0 win over Sandridge Rovers. Matt Newman may not have been quite so prolific this season, but he took his tally to 15 for the current campaign with a hat-trick. An Andy Ruck goal completed the scoring. Codicote and Standon & Puckeridge played out a 1-1 draw, which was the hosts sixth league draw in 19 outings. David Iwediuno scored for Codicote with Mark Smith earning his side a share of the spoils. The points were also shared at Hertford Heath in their relegation six-pointer with Lemsford. David OConnor ensured Heath stretched their unbeaten run to three, but Bradley Anderson scored to earn Lemmy a point. Elsewhere, Mill End Sports ended a run of 12 matches without a win with a 1-0 win at Cuffley, who appear to be slipping into the relegation dogfight. On Tuesday evening, Baldock Town Letchworth went back to the top of the Premier Division after they completed a league double over Chipperfield Corinthians in three days. Substitute Rhys Davies scored twice with other goals coming from Harry Holland, Jack Gregson and Harry Holland. Charlie Hurlock netted the Chipperfield consolation. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "WORMLEY COME FROM BEHIND TO SEE OFF REIGNING CHAMPIONS!" Wormley Rovers consolidated their position at the top of the Premier Division after a spirited fightback saw them eventually see off reigning champions Metropolitan Police Bushey at Aldenham Road. The league leaders endured a disastrous start going 2-0 down inside the opening 10 minutes of the game thanks to goals from Lee Richards and Ross Shorto. However, they fought back to level the match with two well-taken goals from new signing Richard Howard. Met Police were then reduced to ten men before Howard burst through only to be fouled in the box and the reliable Jack Bartlett netted from the spot to put Rovers in front. The hosts battled valiantly in search of an equaliser, but a fine Robbie Syrett strike sealed victory for Wormley. Baldock Town Letchworth remain just one point behind following a fine 5-0 win at in-form Codicote. Harry Holland gave Town the lead from the penalty spot in the opening few minutes and he doubled their advantage midway through the half when his free-kick from deep went straight in. Any hopes of a comeback disappeared when Jack Gregson sprang the offside trap and coolly netted. He then turned provider for Holland to complete his hat-trick before another goal from Gregson completed a fine afternoon's work. London Lions are also still in the mix following their victory at struggling Mill End Sports. Dean Nyman scored either side of the interval to put Lions in charge. A goal from the home side 20 minutes from time made it a nervy ending for the title chasers, but they were able to see the game out to collect another vital three points. Following Met Police's first league defeat in 13 outings, Bovingdon had the chance to close the gap on the fourth-placed side at home to struggling Hertford Heath. However, the battling visitors had other ideas as they claimed a fine 3-2 win at Green Lane. A brace from Paul Cousins and a goal from Phil Davies gave Heath the points, with Michael Moore and Chris Marks replying for the hosts. Park Street Village are back in sixth following an emphatic 5-0 win at Lemsford. There were braces apiece for Matt Newman and James Hill with the other strike coming from Chris Cutmore. Lemsford remain four points clear of the relegation zone, but it's now five matches without a win. In the afternoon's other fixture, Croxley Guild and Standon & Puckeridge shared six goals at The Guild of Sport. Ian McIntosh (2) and Alex Butcher were the scorers for the hosts, with James Endacott, Mark Smith and Stephen Hamel on target for Standon & Puckeridge to make it back-to-back draws for both sides. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "WHITWELL GO TOP AS BELSTONE LOSE TO RIVALS EAGLES!" Division One has yet another new leader as Whitwell hit the summit with their seventh straight league win. It is turning out to be some debut season for Simon Chipperfield's side who started the campaign with no wins in their opening four matches. However, their 15th league win of the season, a 3-0 win over AFC Hatfield Town, sees them one point clear at the top. Top scorer Aaron Harvey scored his 11th goal of the season with other goals from Adrian Spence and Dean Hutchinson. Hinton followed up their impressive win over Letchworth Garden City Eagles with a 3-0 victory over Old Parmiterians. Bryan Hughes, Michael Jarrett and Matthew Langley scored the goals in their sides ninth win in their last eleven matches. The Enfield-based club have played more than their promotion rivals, but their recent form suggests a top three finish is a very realistic possibility. Belstone drop to third after going down 4-2 to fellow promotion rivals Letchworth Garden City Eagles. Belstone took the lead through a Kevin Yule free-kick, but Eagles were soon level when a Sean Soards corner was turned into his own net by a Belstone defender. Sam Gittings then put Eagles in front from another Soards corner, but Belstone levelled just after the break through Dale Bradman. However, Eagles were not to be denied as a Rob Groves penalty and another from Gittings gave them the points to keep them well placed in the title race. Stuart Love's 17th goal of the season gave Harpenden Rovers a valuable 1-0 win over St Peters at Acres Corner. After a recent wobble, Rovers have now kept two consecutive clean sheets and remain a title contender just three points off the top in fourth place. After drawing a blank against Old Parmiterians, Bedmond Sports & Social have hit twelve goals in their last two outings. Buntingford Town were the latest on the receiving end going down 6-2 at The Bury. After six games without a goal, Division One's leading marksman Daniel Campbell netted four times to take his season's tally to 29. His strikes were supported by Luke Hughes and Damian Hokan. Chris Babbage and Luke Sharples netted the Buntingford consolations. Sarratt made it seven wins in their last nine games thanks to a 3-2 win at the fading Bushey Rangers. Bushey were looking genuine title contenders in the first third of the season, but a run of five defeats in their last seven league games has seen their hopes evaporate. Leigh Edmunds netted a brace for Rangers, but goals from Chris Dunn, Chris Panayi and Tom Shurville gave Sarratt the points. Knebworth remain comfortably in mid-table following their first win in six games. Tom Martin and Luke Bennett were on the scoresheet in a 2-1 victory over Allenburys Sports. Peter Dare netted for Allenburys who remain in the bottom three with just one win from their last fifteen. Elsewhere, Walkern Rangers remain bottom of the pile despite collecting their second draw of the season with a 2-2 draw at Kimpton Rovers. Lloyd Taylor and Perry Rosham were on target for Rangers, but goals from Jamie Farrelly and Lee French earned a share of the spoils for Rovers. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "WORMLEY REGAIN TOP SPOT AFTER BALDOCK ARE HELD AT HOME" Wormley Rovers went back to the top of the Premier Division following a hard fought 1-0 win at Sandridge Rovers. Jack Bartlett scored the only goal of the game with his 9th goal of the season coming from the penalty spot. The win edges Rovers one point clear at the top, but they do have three matches in hand over Baldock. Baldock Town Letchworth dropped to second after being held to a 2-2 draw by a dogged and determined Standon & Puckeridge. The visitors had won the reverse fixture 2-0 in August and looked set to make it an unlikely league double when James Endacott and Anthony Miles gave them a 2-0 lead at the break. However, Town showed a lot of character to battle back to 2-2 thanks to goals from Craig Skelton and skipper Neil Morgan, but they were unable to force a winner largely due to a Man of the Match display from Nathan Ratcliff in the visitor's goal. With London Lions in Anagram Records Trophy action, reigning champions Metropolitan Police Bushey wasted little opportunity in closing the gap on third place Lions to one point. Braces from Lee Richards and substitute Ross Shorto gave Dusty Miller's men a comprehensive 4-0 away victory over Hertford Heath to make it six wins in a row in all competitions. With all the top sides still to play, they won't have given up on retaining the league title just yet. Chipperfield Corinthians moved up to sixth in the table with a 7-0 win over Evergreen at Queen Street. Chris Corney took his tally to 11 for the season with a hat-trick, whilst top scorer Charlie Hurlock netted a brace. Other goals came from John Neal and Graham Small. The defeat takes Evergreen back to the foot of the table and seven points from safety. Croxley Guild halted their slide after a run of six straight defeats with a point against Park Street Village. Aaron Farrell and Alex Butcher were on the scoresheet for Croxley with James Hill and Matt Newman replying for Park Street, who have now won just once in their last nine games. Codicote continued their excellent run of form with a 3-1 win at Cuffley. Lee McDonald scored a hat-trick for the visitors to make it seven wins in their last nine outings. Gary Bone scored for Cuffley, who remain 10th. Elsewhere, fellow strugglers Lemsford and Mill End Sports played out a 2-2 draw at Ottway Walk, a result which moves the latter off the bottom of the table. Bradley Anderson and Matthew Harris scored for Lemsford who despite being fourth from bottom are now seven points clear of the drop zone. HERTS SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE ROUND-UP "ONLY A HANDFUL OF GAMES SURVIVE ON A RAIN-SODDEN AFTERNOON!" The poor weather conditions severely affected another weekend in the Herts Senior County League with only five of the afternoon's 26 scheduled fixtures surviving. There were no such problems at Aldenham Road as fifth placed Metropolitan Police Bushey hosted fourth placed Bovingdon. The hosts, who came into the game on a run of five straight wins, took the lead when Liam Sonner scored from an acute angle. However, Bovingdon levelled just before the interval thanks to a smart turn and finish by Chris Marks. Met forward Jamie Derby restored his side's lead just after the restart when he volleyed home left footed from twenty yards, but Bovingdon drew level for a second time when Jamie Hurst's alleged handball in the box allowed Matt McMahon to score from the penalty spot. With six minutes remaining and the match seemingly heading for a draw, the enigmatic Rob Courtnage popped up on the edge of the box to steer the ball home and send Met above Bovingdon into fourth place. In Division One, Whitwell took advantage of postponements elsewhere to move up to second. Aaron Harvey and Dean Hutchinson were both on target in a 2-0 win at St Peters to make it five league wins in a row. Fellow promotion chasers Harpenden Rovers and Belstone had their encounter called off at Acres Corner, with Hinton's match against Buntingford Town also going the same way. The only other match in Division One to survive was at Kimpton, who won 3-0 against fellow strugglers Allenburys Sports. Wayne Ewington-Kirby helped himself to a brace, with Keith Milburn also on the scoresheet to make it two wins in their last three games for Rovers. Division One promotion hopefuls Letchworth Garden City Eagles caused a real upset in the Aubrey Cup as they saw off finalists of the past two seasons Park Street Village. After neither side were able to find the net in 90 minutes, Lewis Mitchell popped up with an extra-time goal to settle the tie and set up a mouth-watering Quarter-Final with neighbours Baldock Town Letchworth. The only other match to survive the wash-out was the Chairman's Cup encounter between the top two in Group D, Evergreen Reserves and Cuffley Reserves. Visitors Cuffley came out on top thanks to a 3-1 victory. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "WORMLEY & BALDOCK BOTH HIT SIX AS TOP FIVE ALL WIN!" Baldock Town Letchworth maintained their slender advantage at the top of the Premier Division as they beat Lemsford 6-3 at Ottway Walk. Jack Gregson gave Town the lead early on and then a spectacular Connor Pennery goal made it 2-0 at the break. Alex McDonald halved the deficit early in the second period, but another Pennery "special" and a well-taken Harry Holland goal seemingly put the result beyond doubt. However, the hosts had other ideas with goals from Bradley Anderson and Matthew Harris reducing the arrears to 4-3. The leaders regained their composure though with goals from Gregson and Rhys Davies sealing the victory. Wormley also hit six on their travels, but without reply from Mill End Sports to stay within a point of Baldock with three games in hand. Michael Dodd scored his 19th of the season with Robbie Syrett netting his 16th of the campaign. Billy Cunningham scored a brace with further solitary goals for Nico Nigrelli and Jack Bartlett. London Lions stayed in touch with the top two, but they were forced to come from behind against Standon & Puckeridge at Clarence Park. Spencer Pugh gave the visitors the lead after Lions had wasted two good opportunities to go in front, but Adam Stolerman levelled before the break after being played in by Lee Cash. Lions then claimed all three points when Stolerman netted his 22nd of the season from the penalty spot after a Standon & Puckeridge player was penalised for handball. Sandridge Rovers were involved in a seven-goal thriller for the second week running, but this time they were on the wrong side of a 4-3 scoreline against fourth place Bovingdon. The Green Lane-club continued their fine run of form with goals from Nick Starbrook, Matt McMahon, Jonathan Harold and Chris Marks. Craig Purdy, Danny Johnson and Chris Wickens all scored for Rovers. Metropolitan Police Bushey stretched their unbeaten league run to ten with a 3-2 win over Park Street Village at Toulmin Drive. Former Met player Chris Cutmore gave Park Street the lead after Matty Newman had been fouled in the box, but Lee Richards replied for the visitors to ensure they went in level at the break. Matt Day restored the hosts lead, before a late Rob Courtnage double stole the points for Dusty Miller's men. Mid-table sides Croxley Guild and Chipperfield Corinthians shared seven goals at The Guild of Sport with the visitors coming out on top. Chris Corney, Darren Gardiner and a brace from Charlie Hurlock sealed a first win since December for Chipperfield. Richard Butt, Alex Butcher and Conor Flanagan scored for Croxley who have now lost six matches in succession. Codicote are up to ninth in the table following a comprehensive 5-0 win at bottom club Evergreen. Top scorer Marcus Cumberbatch was on target with his 14th goal of the season. Other goals came from Lee McDonald, David Iwediuno and substitute Ben Smith (2). The day's other match saw Cuffley end a run of five matches without a win against struggling Hertford Heath. Owi Thomas and Tom Glover netted for Lee Kisby's men in a 2-1 win. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "BELSTONE REMAIN ON TOP AS SARRATT CONTINUE FINE RUN!" Division One leaders Belstone remain clear at the top after a narrow 2-1 win over struggling Allenburys Sports. Will Corbett and Michael Quinn were on target to open up a three-point advantage over the chasing pack. Peter Dare scored for Allenburys, who have won just one of their last fourteen matches. That victory came against Sarratt, who have been in a rich vein of form ever since. Second place Hinton were the latest side to be on the receiving end as their run of seven straight wins came to a halt with a 4-1 defeat. Mark Davis scored for Hinton, but they were soundly beaten following goals from Chris Honour, Chris Dunn, Tom Shurville and substitute Chris Panayi to move Sarratt to within four points of the promotion places. Letchworth Garden City Eagles leapfrogged Hinton into second following a 4-1 win at the early pacesetters Bushey Rangers, whose own hopes of promotion appear to be dwindling by the week. Jaz Genesis, Sean Soards, Joe Tyler and Sam Gittings all scored for Eagles, with Leigh Edmunds replying for Rangers. After slipping off the pace over the Christmas period, Whitwell are back in the promotion hunt. They continued their 100% record in 2010 with a 2-1 win over Walkern Rangers. Gavin Stevens and substitute Aiden Bryder scored the goals that sealed the points. Perry Rosham notched for Rangers. At the other end of the table, Buntingford Town ended a run of five games without a win with a 5-3 victory at Kimpton Rovers. Nathan Searle and Luke Sharples netted a brace apiece with Wesley Pullen also scoring. Kimpton were unable to repeat the heroics of their previous outing against Harpenden. Wayne Ewington-Kirby, Aaron Delany and Adam Levey all scored in vain for Rovers. The day's other match saw Knebworth and AFC Hatfield Town play out a 1-1 draw. Adrian Turner was on target for the K's with Town player/manager Darryn Stewart earning a share of the spoils for his side. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "STOLERMAN ENSURES LIONS STAY IN THE HUNT!" With the top two in Aubrey Cup action, London Lions moved to within four points of leaders Wormley Rovers as a solitary goal from the Premier Division's top scorer Adam Stolerman proved enough to see off a dogged Chipperfield Corinthians and kept them firmly in the title hunt. Bovingdon moved back into fourth place and stretched their unbeaten run in the league to ten matches following a single goal victory over Lemsford. Chris Marks scored his ninth of the season to seal the points. Sandridge Rovers are sixth in the Premier Division as they scored a dramatic late winner to edge a seven goal thriller against Cuffley. Conor Drake and substitutes Madison King and Josh Kisby scored for the visitors, but goals from Chris Wickens, Tim Hataway, Danny Large and Peter Stevens gave Rovers victory. There were also seven goals in the meeting between Hertford Heath and Codicote at The Playing Field. Veterans Phil Davies (twice) and Terry McHugh were on the scoresheet for the hosts, but Marcus Cumberbatch's 12th and 13th goals of the season as well as strikes from Stephen Fahey and Sam Devoil gave "The Cod" the three points to move them up to ninth in the table. Elsewhere, James Endacott and Anthony Miles helped Standon & Puckeridge put daylight between themselves and the bottom three after a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened Mill End Sports. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "BELSTONE BACK ON TOP AS HARPENDEN LOSE AT KIMPTON!" Belstone bounced back from their surprise 5-0 home loss to Sarratt last time out with a 4-2 win over Walkern Rangers at the Jubilee Pavilion, a result that sent them back to the top of the Division One table. Nathon Bowden scored a brace for Rangers, but goals from William Corbett, Warren Smith, Michael Brindley and an own goal meant the visitors left victorious. Hinton are a point behind in second following their seventh win in a row. They beat promotion rivals Bushey Rangers 2-0 thanks to goals from Michael Jarrett and Bryan Hughes to complete a league double over Rangers in the process. Harpenden Rovers were not only knocked off the top, but they dropped to third following a shock 3-2 defeat at strugglers Kimpton Rovers. Adam Smith and Sam O'Connell scored for Harpenden, but they were unable to repeat their heroics from the week before as Stuart Lang, Aaron Delany and Ian Levey scored to give Kimpton their first win in twelve matches. Whitwell moved up to fifth following their third consecutive 3-0 victory. Gavin Stevens scored his 7th and 8th goals of the season and Bradleigh Moss was also on target against struggling Allenburys Sports. Bedmond are sixth despite a goalless draw with Old Parmiterians at Toms Lane. It was the first time this season that Bedmond had failed to score in a match, but they kept a clean sheet for the first time in ten matches. Sarratt maintained their impressive run of form with a 3-2 win at AFC Hatfield Town. Tom Shurville, Chris Dunn and Chris Panayi scored for Sarratt. Although Town slipped to another defeat, James Millard and Billy Dean scored to end Sarratt's run of three matches without conceding a goal. The Bury is certainly the place to be this season if you want to see a "goalfest" as Buntingford Town's home ground produced another five goals, but again the hosts ended up on the wrong side of the scoreline as St Peters left with a 3-2 win. Richard Ellis scored twice and Tony Gauthier was also on target for St Peters, whilst Chris Babbage netted twice for Town. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "BALDOCK HIT EIGHT PAST SORRY CROXLEY!" Baldock Town Letchworth closed the gap to two points on leaders Wormley Rovers at the top of the Premier Division after they emphatically crushed mid-table Croxley Guild 8-0 at the Guild of Sport. When the two sides met in the reverse fixture only a fortnight ago, Town edged it with a narrow 2-1 win, but Croxley were simply no match on this occasion as Town ran in five first half goals thanks to Rob Beckwith, Harry Holland, Nicky Stilwell and a Jack Gregson brace. Gregson completed his hat-trick early in the second half before two fine goals from substitute Connor Pennery completed the rout. Park Street Village ended a miserable run of five straight defeats and the same amount of games without a goal by seeing off lowly Mill End Sports. Andy Ruck, Andrew Murphy and John Winyard scored the goals in a 3-0 win, which takes them back up to sixth in the table. Phil Davies and David O'Connor were on target as Hertford Heath earned a 2-2 draw with high-flying Bovingdon. The result moves Heath off the bottom of the table on goal difference. Chris Marks and Michael Moore netted for Bovingdon. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "HARPENDEN REGAIN THE LEAD AS BELSTONE ARE THUMPED AT HOME!" The lead at the top of Division One changed again as leaders Belstone were thumped 5-0 at home by in-form Sarratt, who have now scored 19 goals without reply in their last three games. Ian Birkett, Stewart Leader, Chris Dunn, John Gaynor and Chris Panayi all scored in a fine away win. As a result, Belstone drop to third on goal difference. Harpenden Rovers went back to the top following a hard fought win at The Bury over Buntingford Town. They found themselves 2-0 down early in the second half and then 3-1 down, but battled back superbly to win 4-3 in injury-time. Robert Gilham, David Ring, Stuart Love and substitute Marc Andrews scored for Rovers, with Nathan Searle, Chris Babbage and Marc Stobart scoring for Town. Letchworth Garden City Eagles are second following a narrow 2-1 victory over local rivals Knebworth at Pixmore. The K's lead at the break thanks to a Luke Bennett goal, but the Eagles turned it around thanks to a Luke Garwood brace to seal the points. Lewis Wornham and Darryl King scored to keep Bedmond just five points off the leaders following a 2-1 win over St Peters at Toms Lane. Richard Ellis replied for St Peters who have now lost three of their last four. Whitwell remain in the promotion hunt after they secured their second 3-0 win in as many matches. Tom Stagg scored a brace with the other coming from Ben Moulding to complete a league double over their neighbours. Elsewhere, AFC Hatfield Town ended a run of 12 matches without a win following a 3-0 victory over Walkern Rangers. Darrly Stewart, Brett Allen and Ben McGregor scored the goals to move Town up to 11th in the table. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "WORMLEY MOVE FIVE POINTS CLEAR WITH ANOTHER WIN!" Premier Division leaders Wormley Rovers stretched their advantage at the top to five points with their thirteenth win in fourteen games. Michael Dodd took his tally to 15 for the season with a brace, whilst Robbie Syrett's 12th of the season completed a 3-1 win at Croxley Guild. Dale Fisher was on target for the hosts. Second place met third at The County Ground as Baldock Town Letchworth took on London Lions, but neither side could force a breakthrough in a tightly contested match, which in the end finished in a 0-0 stalemate a result that did little for either sides title aspirations. Champions Metropolitan Police Bushey are up to fourth following a 3-0 victory over local rivals Evergreen. Jamie Derby is some way short of his 44 goals last season, but he claimed his 11th and 12th of the current campaign with a brace. Evergreen old boy Liam Sonner scored the other. Lemsford are now unbeaten in four matches as they continued their steady ascent away from the bottom of the table with a 5-2 win at Cuffley. Former Baldock midfielder Michael Fortune scored a brace, as did Danny Pickett, with David Morris also on the scoresheet. Rio Enver and Owi Thomas scored for the home side. Another club heading in the right direction are Codicote. Their 2-1 win at Mill End Sports means it's just one defeat in their last ten matches for them. Marcus Cumberbatch and Ben Smith scored the all important goals. In contrast, Mill End are in the drop zone following just one win from their last 17 matches. Matches at Chipperfield and Park Street Village were postponed due to the weather. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "SOLITARY QUINN STRIKE KEEPS BELSTONE ON TOP!" Division One leaders Belstone hit nine last time out, but a solitary goal from Steve Quinn proved enough to see off mid-table Knebworth. Quinn's 12th goal of the season keeps the Medbourn Ground-club one point clear at the top. The defeat for the K's, their third in five games, keeps them 10th. Hinton climbed to second as they won a nine-goal thriller at Toms Lane against promotion rivals Bedmond. There were braces for former Cuffley duo Bryan Hughes and Michael Jarrett, with Matthew Langley also scoring twice to take his season's tally to nine. Darryl King, Myron Ramsey and Gary Fisken scored for Bedmond who remain sixth despite their fifth defeat in their last six matches. Mid-table Sarratt have scored fourteen goals without reply in their last two matches following their 5-0 win at bottom-of-the-table Walkern Rangers. A brace from John Gaynor and one from Daniel Doran set them on their way before Dave Longhurst came off the bench to score twice and complete the scoring. St Peters are just five points off the promotion places after they won 1-0 against Old Parmiterians. Substitute James Lee scored the decisive goal. One defeat in their last eleven league outings means that St Peters shouldn't be ruled out of the Premier Division promotion picture despite currently sitting 7th in the table. Elsewhere, matches at Allenburys Sports, Harpenden Rovers and Whitwell all fell foul of the freezing conditions. PREMIER DIVISION ROUND-UP "BALDOCK COME FROM BEHIND TO CLOSE THE GAP!" Baldock Town Letchworth returned to action after seven weather-affected weeks and there were clear signs of rustiness as Croxley Guild threatened to derail their title challenge at The County Ground. The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute when a clumsy challenge from Nicky Stilwell allowed Alex Butcher to comfortably dispatch the resultant spot-kick. After the break Town came out with renewed purpose and soon equalised through skipper Lee Rogers before a well-taken Craig Skelton strike late on gave the promotion hopefuls all three points to move up to second in the table. Fourth-place Bovingdon stretched their unbeaten league run to eight matches after they beat mid-table Cuffley 5-3 at Green Lane. Braces from Lee Daly and Chris Marks set Paul Woolfrey's men on the way to victory, with Craig McMahon also on target. Ben Baldwin, Tom Glover and Matt Kearney replied for the visitors. Champions Metropolitan Police Bushey remain in a close fifth following a 5-2 win over Mill End Sports. Jamie Derby netted a brace with further goals from Gavin Chatterpaul, Rob Courtnage and Ross Shorto sealing the win. Craig Horwood and Tom Callaghan netted for the hosts, who have now conceded 22 goals in their last four league outings. Park Street Village have now failed to score in six of their last seven matches following a 1-0 defeat at Sandridge Rovers, who have now leapfrogged Street in the Premier Division table. Rovers' top scorer Chris Wickens scored his seventh goal of the season to move his side up to sixth. Standon & Puckeridge picked up a morale-boosting 4-1 win over fellow strugglers Hertford Heath. Anthony Miles, Jonathan Jarrett, James Endacott and Mark Smith all scored, as a Matthew Chappell consolation saw Heath relegated back to the foot of the table. The 2-2 between Lemsford and Evergreen did little for either side's hopes of moving away from the drop zone. James Chang and substitute David Morris scored for Lemsford with Danny Burke and Lui Potiuk earning Evergreen a share of the spoils. DIVISION ONE ROUND-UP "BELSTONE GO TOP AFTER HITTING SORRY KIMPTON FOR NINE!" In Division One, there is just one point separating five teams at the top of the table after Belstone stormed to the summit with a 9-0 thrashing of Kimpton Rovers at the Medbourn Ground. Graham Windsor scored a hat-trick, Michael Brindley and Kevin Yule netted twice, whilst Steve Quinn and Damola Oyefusi goals completed the rout. Harpenden Rovers dropped to second following a 4-3 defeat to Bedmond, who got their own promotion assault back on track. Stuart Love moved onto thirteen goals for the season with a brace, with Ryan Denys scoring the other for Rovers. Bedmond left Acres Corner with all three points thanks to goals from Damian Hokan (2), Darryl King and Myron Ramsey. Hinton are fourth following their fifth league win in a row. Bryan Hughes notched twice and Mark Shannon and Nicolas Sawkins were also on the scoresheet in their 4-1 win over St Peters. Sam Marple netted the visitors consolation, which was their first league defeat since September. Aiden Bryder, Dean Hutchinson and Gavin Stevens earned Whitwell all three points at AFC Hatfield Town. The win keeps them six points off the lead and with an outside chance of sneaking into a promotion spot. Despite only three places separating the two clubs, Sarratt ran riot against Allenburys Sports. John Gaynor and Chris Dunn helped themselves to a hat-trick apiece, Stephen Brownsell scored twice and Tom Shurville also scored in a 9-0 rout. When the sides met in the reverse league fixture seven days before, Allenburys won 3-1 (it's a funny old game!). Elsewhere, there was little joy for the bottom two in Division One as they both went down 4-2 away from home. Max Camp scored a brace for second-bottom Buntingford Town, but they lost at Old Parmiterians. Daniel Ainsworth, Gary Hayne, Adam Miller and Martin Skinner scored for the hosts. Walkern Rangers went down to local rivals Knebworth despite goals from Gareth Dray and Michael Young. The K's claimed their sixth league victory of the season thanks to strikes from Sam Harte, Daniel Griffiths, Tim Luxford and Sam Stephenson. HERTS SENIOR COUNTY LEAGUE ROUND-UP "ROVERS MOVE FIVE POINTS CLEAR ON WEATHER AFFECTED WEEKEND!" Wormley Rovers stretched their lead in the Premier Division to five points as they took advantage of a weather-affected weekend in the Herts Senior County League. Their trip to Standon & Puckeridge was the only match on in the Premier Division and they moved further clear of London Lions and Baldock Town Letchworth with a 2-1 win. Rob Syrett was the match-winner for Rovers with a brace. Mark Smith replied for the hosts. In Division One there were two matches that beat the freeze. Bushey Rangers moved back to within a point of the lead two following a 4-2 win at Bedmond, whose own promotion hopes seem to be fading. Daniel May scored a brace, with other strikes from Alessandro Campana and Darren Glenister sealing the win. Sean Burrows and Kris Kifleyesus scored for Bedmond, who have now lost four in a row. Hinton are fifth and have now won seven of their last nine matches after they thrashed strugglers Kimpton Rovers 6-1. Bryan Hughes netted twice to set them on their way. Other goals came from Matthew Langley, Gavin Peck, Nicolas Sawkins and an own goal. Craig Barnes scored the Rovers consolation. There was no joy for our sides in either the Anagram Records Trophy or Herts Intermediate Cup as both Metropolitan Police Bushey and Knebworth crashed out of their respective competitions. The Met were beaten 3-1 at 2008 Anagram Records Trophy winners Frenford Senior, whilst Knebworth went down by a single goal to Cheshunt Reserves in the Intermediate Cup Round Three stage. Only two Reserve Section matches survived. London Lions Reserves opened up a four point gap at the top of Reserve Division One following their comprehensive 5-1 win over Cuffley Reserves, whilst Sarratt Reserves went top of Group A in the Chairman's Cup following a 2-0 win at Wormley Rovers Reserves. |
